I love smoothies, shakes, blender drinks, whatever you want to call them, they are delicious and nutritious as long as you make them at home.
Especially when it is a Cake Batter Shake.
This is from Chocolate Covered Katie, and this is her Cake Batter Shake recipe. She has the best healthy desserts around!
I had to have one too but I wanted to make mine a little different so here is what I went with.
- 3/4 to 1 cup of original soy milk
- 1 Tbs unsweetened creamy peanut butter
- 1 Frozen banana
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 Tbs cacao nibs
Blend all ingredients in blender. Top with more cacao nibs. YUM! No this is no joke, how can something this good NOT be bad?
Yes, you can have shakes for breakfast!
Thanks for the inspiration, Katie! Check out her blog for many more sweet healthy treats.

My kids would LOVE this. Really any vehicle for sprinkles is a winner in their book.
so yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t wait to make these!!!
I much prefer your version (I don’t think we need the sprinkles – this is an adult appeal thing that we dump on our kids and they grow up with this junk food addiction) – besides, the colours of nature are far more beautiful and captivating
Very nice Amy.
I need to restock my frozen banana supply ASAP! Those look so yummy! They would make a great after-school snack for the kids too.
My oldest two had the shakes after school! They went over well.
Isn’t she the best?! … I looooooove all of her recipes! Seriously, add Xanthan gum to make it seriously taste like an actual cake batter ice cream.
I saw the Xanthan gum at Whole Foods the other day but it was expensive, so I opted to wait to see if I REALLY needed it. Then I came across Katies recipe and I knew my answer! Back to whole foods I go…
Isn’t it the best when healthy food tastes so good?!
This shake looks so good yet so simple! perfect for breakfast!
thanks for sharing,I cant wait to try the shake,
You’re welcome.
Aww wow, thank you so much, Amy! And your photos are SO bright and vibrant. It’s the first thing I noticed when I clicked on your blog. They are so clear! What camera do you use?
Also, I think that second picture is my favorite
.
Thank you Katie, I have a Nikon D3100. I love it! It is so easy to use and the pictures turn out fantastic.
Your pictures on your blog are so pretty and colorful and they all make me want to run to the kitchen and try what you have made! You must have a pretty nice camera too.
Thanks again.
LOL oh no, yours are MUCH clearer and crisper! (Especially since I have to photoshop mine to get them clear.) Maybe it’s not the camera as much as the photographer. You’re awesome!
Thank you, again.
